Upendra completed his master and doctoral degree in public health from Deaking University (Australia) and Ghent University (Belgium) respectively. He has been with the Institute of Public Health Bengaluru since 2007, currently serving as its Director. His interests are in chronic conditions, commercial determinants of health, political economy of health, urban health and health inequities.
